I got my first Chesapeake in 1978. He got me hooked on the breed. I established a small animal veterinary practice in 1985, the year after I married. When I finished having children myself, I began raising Chesapeakes.
Chesapeakes are excellent working dogs, competitive in field trials, hunt tests, hunting and obedience. We have found the Chesapeake to be an affectionate, intelligent breed that is eager to please. Our Chesapeakes live in our home, are people-oriented and good with children. While my primary interest is field work, our dogs conform to the breed standard and are successful in the show ring. All our dogs have hip and eye clearances (OFA/Pen.Hip, and CERF).
